To build an effective bridge between higher education and Bangladesh’s technology industry, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) and software company Brain Station 23 have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). Under the new initiative, AIUB students will get the opportunity to work on real-world industry problems in their theses and research, and will also receive technical guidance from Brain Station 23. The software firm announced the development in a press release on Tuesday.

According to the press release, research under the initiative will cover AI benchmarking, conversational AI, multi-agent systems, vision-language systems, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and other AI solutions tailored to local needs in Bangladesh, to be carried out in AIUB’s research labs. Students will also have internship opportunities at Brain Station 23. The two institutions will jointly organize hackathons, AI workshops and seminars, and will take part in career and innovation fairs.

The MoU was signed at AIUB’s conference room by AIUB Pro-Vice-Chancellor Md. Abdur Rahman and Brain Station 23 Managing Director M J Ferdous. Also present at the ceremony were AIUB Vice-Chancellor Saiful Islam, Professor Deep Nandy, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, head of Brain Station 23’s SBU Asif Haque, and technologist Munir Hasan.

Speaking at the event, Md. Abdur Rahman said, “AIUB has always been working to spread modern, world-class technical education. We have three specialized labs equipped with 120 high-performance PCs and supercomputing infrastructure.”

M J Ferdous said, “AI is no longer just a subject of research; it is becoming a part of our daily lives. If students get the chance to work on real problems during their studies, they will be ready for any job at home and abroad. This MoU with AIUB is a big step in that direction.”
